New Release: The TS20 Tactile Servo, a Thumb-Sized Torque Monster
Touch Redefines the Servo
As the video shows, the tactile servo has:
- Extremely sensitive force perception
- Burst power beyond intuition
None of this existed on a traditional servo. For traditional servo products:
- Either a toy-grade servo, able to manage only simple, slow movements — which is why robots built from toy servos always moved in fits and starts, felt like toys, and could not sense their environment at all;
- Or an industrial-grade servo, cobbled together from a coreless motor, a planetary gearbox and a torque sensor — the function was there, but it was big, clumsy and bulky, usable only in equipment and other places where space is not at a premium;
The tactile servo, by contrast, delivers 3~4x overload in a thumb-sized space while sensing force with high sensitivity, sounding the horn of a miniature power revolution. It is called a tactile servo, but in essence it is an ultra-miniaturized robot joint.
The Core of Miniaturized Physical AI
Stronger perception is what physical AI demands, and what the era demands. As more and more conventional control evolves into intelligent control, sensing the physical environment while delivering power is the core of bringing physical AI into the real world.
We named it the tactile servo (Tactile Servo) because we believe it delivers a core insight in building dexterous hands: “The joints are sensors”. KingKong gives the tactile servo triple-encoder force perception, so it senses force with extreme sensitivity — proprioception born into it the way a robot body is born with it. Proprioception is the next stage of intelligence to emerge in dexterous hands: it frees us from physical tactile sensors, letting the muscle itself deliver tactile perception, so that dexterous hands can truly arrive as intelligence iterates.
The Future Is Already Here
We believe the tactile servo will open entirely different possibilities for the miniature market: bringing small robots into the home sooner, making miniature control smarter, letting dexterous hands touch the era, and making the maker market far more colorful.
The TS20 servo is now on sale. You can view the datasheet on our website: https://kingkong.tech/en/servo
