Force-position Integrated Actuator

Ultra-compact Triple Encoder Case

Integrated sensing-drive actuator cutaway

As robots move from factories into broader application scenarios, the joint, as the core hub of the robot, faces unprecedented design challenges. Traditional solutions that stack industrial force-sensor modules are becoming increasingly strained, with larger dimensions, difficult wiring, troublesome maintenance, and high cost becoming more visible.

KingKong Technology builds on its globally unique patterned magnetic encoding technology, which can identify angular changes down to 0.0001 degrees. By breaking up the force sensor and deeply integrating it with the encoder, the triple-encoder solution accurately senses deformation through tiny angle differences and synchronously measures force and position in an extremely compact space. This technical path is a global first.

TPB Triple Encoder

The TPB triple encoder consists of four parts:

  • Inner rotor: Located at the joint output side, directly connected to the load, and responsible for the full closed loop of absolute joint position
  • Intermediate rotor: Located at the reducer output side and connected to the inner ring through the torque disc; the difference between the two directly corresponds to the tiny torsional deformation at the output side
  • Outer rotor: Located at the motor rotor, providing real-time angle feedback for commutation and the speed loop
  • Stator: Simultaneously measures the angles of the inner rotor (joint side), intermediate rotor (reducer side), and outer rotor (motor side), and outputs them through one interface

KingKong provides a standard solution, while customers design the output disc based on their motor size and torque requirements. This can greatly optimize joint space, reduce part redundancy, and lower cost. During the process, KingKong can provide design and simulation methods to achieve the best use effect.

Position-Torque Integrated Actuator Implementation

In this solution, the TPB series integrates position sensing and force sensing through three encoders, providing accurate position information and real-time joint torque data at the same time. Its extremely compact size greatly optimizes joint space, reduces redundant parts, and lowers cost.

Future

In the future, KingKong will accelerate the intelligence of integrated sensing-drive systems, eliminate modular data islands, and fuse sensing data to reduce dependence on single-point capabilities. With integrated sensing-drive as the backbone, it will expand neural networks, skin sensing, safety redundancy, and local intelligence, opening the next era of sensing evolution.
